A Gospel radio station based in Singapore has been reaching out to Chinese living in various parts of Asia in a variety of dialects.
Voice of Grace (FM 102.3) was officially launched on November 4, 2002, at Newton Life Church, but pioneering work already began back in 1999 with a suggestion for the need to broadcast Chinese programmes from Batam, Indonesia, which led to broadcast work covering Singapore, the Riau Islands of Indonesia, and Southern Johor of West Malaysia.
The channel began with only Mandarin programmes, but programmes in English, Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, Hakka, Hainanese and even Japanese were added later.
The range of broadcasting was also extended through the years. In late 2006 a Mandarin programme was produced for the Chinese in Khabarovsk, Russia, and in early 2007 another one was produced for the Chinese in Seoul, South Korea.
The radio broadcaster is currently airing a weekly series by well-known Reformed evangelist and theologian Revd Dr Stephen Tong that started on August 8 and will run for six Fridays at 8 a.m. until September 12.
The Indonesian-born Chinese evangelist, who has preached to more than 20 million in his 50 years of ministry and is known for his Creation-centered Evangelical Reformed approach in which he directly addresses liberalism in the Church, focuses on evangelism, and preaches on the subject of Creation, is due to conduct an evangelistic crusade at the Singapore Indoor Stadium from September 11 through 14 during the evenings.
Voice of Grace is the ministry of FEBA Ltd, a member of Far East Broadcasting Corporation (International), which has offices and recording studios in 17 countries reaching two thirds of the world with an emphasis on China.
